TikTok engagement rate

Fill in views, followers, or both. Against views, most TikTok videos land somewhere between 3% and 9%. Measured by followers it swings much more, because a video can reach far beyond your followers.

Views or followers?

On TikTok, most videos are seen by people who don’t follow you, so a views-based rate shows how a clip performed with the people who actually saw it. Dividing by followers is useful for comparing accounts, but a single viral video can push it over 100%. The calculator shows both when you give both.

Worked example

A video with 9,000 views, 420 likes, 18 comments, 11 shares and 25 saves has 474 interactions. By views that is (474 ÷ 9,000) × 100 = 5.27%, comfortably in the usual range. On an account with 3,100 followers, the by-followers figure is 15.29%.

Using the username lookup

Type a public TikTok username above the form and we load the follower count and a rough likes-per-video figure (total likes divided by number of videos). TikTok profiles don’t show per-video views, comments or shares, so add those from one video for the by-views rate.

What likes packages do to the number

A likes package adds to the top of the sum for one video, so its rate by views rises. If the jump makes the video look out of line with its views, visitors may notice. Keep packages in proportion to the video’s reach.

Questions

About this tool

Which TikTok rate counts as good?
Against views, 3–9% is the normal band; anything higher is strong.
Why can the rate by followers exceed 100%?
Because a video can reach many more people than follow you, and their interactions all count.
Is my data stored?
No. The maths runs in your browser. The optional lookup sends only the username.
